Qualified Professional Counsellors:
All ChatBus counsellors are professionally trained and are members of a professional body such as NZAC.
They receive regular clinical supervision, and engage in regular professional development.
Counsellors work closely with the schools; liaising with, or referring to, other professionals/agencies as required.
Easy + Discrete Self Referral for Children:
An appointment system operates in each school via the school office, and children can freely self refer to ChatBus.
Sometimes school staff or parents make referrals for children. Referrals can be made via the school office, or by email or phone to the ChatBus office.
Each appointment is for 30 minutes, and is during class time.
Onsite at School, yet One Step Removed:
ChatBus is available at the child’s school, on safe, familiar territory, yet one step removed from the school system.
The child is the client, and as such the child’s privacy and confidentiality is respected. However, we understand that children come as part of a family, and when the child discloses information which the counsellor considers would be beneficial for others to know, the counsellor will talk with the child about telling appropriate other adults (whether that be a parent, or teacher).
